Be Creative! 01/31/2012
Creativity is inspired by the freedom of playfulness and fun. “Creativity is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes, and having fun.” — Mary Lou Cook “The world is but a canvas to the imagination.” — Henry David Thoreau “To draw, you must close your eyes and sing.” — Pablo Picasso “Creativity is contagious. Pass it on.” — Albert Einstein “To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong.” — Joseph Chilton Pierce “A man may die, nations may rise and fall, but an idea lives on.” — John F. Every day I get the question, "How can I get found on search engines" or "What can I do to improve my seo results?" When you type in this question on Google search, you get over 9 MILLION results (most of which offer "guaranteed top of page one" for a mere $1,000/month!) I wish I had that secret formula, but the answer is not that simple. Now, Google has introduced 'Search plus your World', and now search results get even better by including photos, posts, and more from you and your friends. When signed in with Google+, you’ll find personal results and profiles of people you know or follow. You can even expand your world by discovering people related to your search. Here is a great explanation of the difference in search results (whether you are logged into Google+ or not) by Lee Odden, CEO of @TopRank: Logged out – Google search results when you or other users are not logged in are as close to “generic” as you’ll get, but they are still customized according to your geographic location and your click activity during the session. The days of generic search results that can be predictably viewed by more than one person in different locations is gone. If you do search while logged out, you’ll get a more generic experience than logged in – so it’s worth noting the difference. Logged in – Users of Google services who are logged in while searching will almost certainly be presented with unique search results. Personalization can be influenced by a variety of factors, including the recent social signals integration of Google+ into Google search results – aka Google Search Plus Your World and especially from the universal Google product data sharing that will start March 1st 2012. Other influences include past search history, geographic location and your interaction with search results are factors for Google to adjust search results just for you. Keep in mind, logged in or out, there are over 20o signals used to sort search results. Take a look at the video below, to learn more about the new way that search results work:

So, for those of you who are asking yourself those questions right now, here’s a short guide to Follow Friday… #FF is short for #FollowFriday. It’s a Twitter trend created back in 2009 by Twitter users that has since become a customary Friday activity. An #FF is a shout out, a show of appreciation, a nice thing to do. The idea being that your #FF recommendation will encourage others to check out that profile, generating more followers for them. It’s October and this is the time of year when ghosts will be hard at work scaring us. Smart companies, utilizing social media marketing strategies, are using ghosts to “scare” up more business. Well, we’re not really talking about the kind of ghosts that scream “boo.” We’re talking about ghostwriters. When using social media marketing, you need to be current and up to date on information you put on your blogs, websites or newsletters. For small business owners, there is no time to sit in front of a computer writing new content or providing up-to-date data on your field and service. It’s impossible. One solution is to hire a professional writer to generate the content for you. Anonymous writers are called ghostwriters. Currently, there is a growing pool of ghostwriters both independent and through agencies to help save your digital marketing ambitions. After a few conversations with a ghostwriter or company you can determine the direction you want to go with the content of your articles. Many people come from diverse backgrounds, and you would be surprised to find out just what people specialize in. Besides being able to maintain a regular schedule for the output of information, there are other advantages of hiring a ghostwriter.
